Strip Out and Making Safe

With approvals in place we carried out a careful strip out. Services were isolated and capped, non load bearing walls were removed where required and the work area was secured. Groundworks and Substructure

The Single Storey Extension footprint was set out and excavated for new foundations to the engineer’s specification. We installed drainage runs and insulation to meet current standards, then poured the concrete slab and created a level base for the new shell. Building the Shell

External walls were built using materials that complement the existing house. Structural steel supported the new opening to the rear to create a generous span into the extension. At the same time we improved the envelope of the original property where needed so that the new and old parts of the house perform as one.

Roof, Light and Openings

The roof was formed and made weather tight. We coordinated new window and door openings that bring natural light deep into the open plan space and connect the kitchen to the garden. The choice of glazing and roof form was made to balance daylight, privacy and energy performance.

First Fix, Insulation and Airtightness

Inside, first fix electrical and plumbing work was completed across both the extension and the existing house as part of the refurbishment. High performance insulation and careful airtightness detailing were installed to meet the specified U values.
